What is submission to God's Will?

"Sometimes God bring about change instantly, while other times it is a slow process. Being submissive to God means you do not have specific expectations other than the goodness and glory of God. So expect great things, but do not determine ahead of time exactly what those great things are. God knows, so you must be patient."
Nancy Wilson, in the book The Fruit of Her Hands: Respect and the Christian Woman (emphasis mine)

Very good quote, Jessie. Always good to hear :). That book is on my "to read" list. Let me know how you like it when you're done :). I'm working on an e-mail to you, btw, but my computer time has been limited. Soon, soon. Maybe tonight (that's what I'm going to work on right now!), but probably tomorrow before it's finished.

I finished The Fruit of Her Hands Wednesday night. It's a quick read (I only started it Sunday night) but it's full of good instruction. Nancy Wilson brought a few points to mind I hadn't ever pondered beforehand, while at the same time she reminded me of other things that are easy to forget. "I would put you in rememberance of these things, brethren, though you know them..." I found it helpful to keep in mind that, while the book is written primarily for wives in regard to respecting their husbands, any single woman can read the book and apply the respect issues to her life now, to her current head. It's always easier to say that once we're married we'll be able to submit to and respect our husbands, because we'll love them so much, but the fact is, if we have a hard time respecting and submitting to our authority now it's only going to be harder to do so to our future husbands- we'll be all the more bent in our ways.
Overall I would definitely recommend it, but be careful in the dwelling too much on the seventh chapter. (I'll tell you more via e-mail.)

Yes, being reminded is always a good thing. That's what our Bible study talked about this week! - II Peter 1:12-15.

Also, absolutely a book to wives can have application to us single ladies :), because we are under heads, as you said. Have you read His Chosen Bride by Jennifer Lamp. She takes Proverbs 31 and applies it to single women. It's very good!

I'm looking forward to your further exposition of the book by e-mail, whenever you get the time :).
